JENSON - BIOGRAPHY - Jenson - Marco Maggiore - Alex Perosin - Fabio Beltramini

JENSON is a music band that try to reveal and express to the world the dreams thoroughly guarded by the stars. On a star the colours of your soul become visible and shine through all your body, Jenson have the magic key to unlock the doors that lead to the secret world…how do they do it? Here’s their story.

“It’s always difficult to say precisely how a new thing comes to life and mainly when it’s a hugely important thing. I reckon that some people you meet, you don’t meet them by sheer chance, instead, I’m sure you’ve been guided to them for some reason, otherwise it’s impossible to explain.
I strongly believe that for some strange cause the stars in the sky turn on their light whenever we need it and they promptly suggest the way to follow. Than it’s up to us whether to pay attention or not to. As far as Jenson is concerned, everything started off in an old back yard when the city turned into a cold winter in 2002”.

“I remember an odd feeling since the very first day I worked with Jenson, a sort of awareness that we could do whatever we wanted to do when put together, musically speaking of course…a professional understanding I’ve never felt before! We could easily release emotions and creativity, building songs. Every bit of it gave me the idea that the project, not identifiable in Jenson only, adopt me and gently took care of me and my skills and use them for itself. It’s very much like the project came to life by itself and lives on by our artistic support”.

It takes time and a lot of dedication to obtain what you’re looking for and this thing, I’m sure, the members of the band know it very well. Having spent quite a lot of time with the boys and being friends since the early days I always had the idea that they knew precisely what they were aiming for, they knew what they wanted and most importantly it seemed to me that in a way or another they were able to see trough something I personally couldn’t spot at all.

The album “Legend Of Music” actually started off in November 2002, when Jenson (songwriter/singer) met the legendary drummer Marco Maggiore at a school of art and music.
The two guys right from the very beginning got on well, and most importantly they discover to have a lot of things in common, they have affinity in many ways, for instance:
The artistic and music formation, dedication to the project, work pace and reliability.
They don’t waste time and as soon as possible they start working on the songs, some of them written previously by Jenson, and others written while they were working on the actual project.
During the making of the Demos of their debut album, the pre-production tracks have been carried out by the duo only, aware of the fact that the combination between them just works, and has a lot of personality and style.

“As far as I can remember I’ve always written songs, since when I was very young, that’s what I can do best, it’s my best talent, really. I love it and it never really occurred to me that much to compose a new song, it regularly comes easy to me, that’s why I say it’s a talent.”
                                                                                                     Jenson

After having spent a few time as a duo working single minded and very accurately on their songs, Jenson and Marco needed a band, a good one, so they started to “Look around” and try to find out the missing elements.
Marco decided to trust the “Natural selection” no auditions, no advertisements in any kind of newspaper.
Marco in particular had just been through an unpleasant situation and he wanted to choose the rest of the bend in the most natural way possible.
A lot of good and not so good musician alternated and followed one another before the recording took place and all the elements clicked into place, but it’s really a common thing having trouble with this sort of things, and then it’s always difficult to find the right people and mainly for such a peculiar and ambitious project as this one.
The two boys remember that in their old school there was a good bass player, extremely reliable to work with, someone you can trust, someone with a very serious approach to music: Alex Perosin.
Alex is a very good bass player and really sensitive with a lot of passion for his instrument, he’s exactly the kind of bass player Jenson needed.
The last element to become part of the project is the guitarist Fabio Beltramini.
He is a very eclectic musician, he his talented with a supremely taste in music, due to the fact that he studied and gained a diploma at the Conservatorio di Milano, where he studied trumpet.
Fabio, an old friend of Marco, has a huge guitar sound, something that grabs you, very vibrating and powerful, he’s just the perfect element to complete the band.
The recording sessions of the debut album “Legend Of Music” begun early in 2004 at the DDE records studios, independent label own by the English singer Dee D Jackson.
All the members of the band had had studio experience before ‘Legend’, mainly demos or recordings for others but working on a project you created and shaped with your own mind, it’s a totally different matter, the tension and expectation is vivid. The band at the DDE records is supported and helped by young technicians who recently finished to attend their classes at school, so the boys had a chance to experiment.

“If we could melt Jenson’s talent for composition and Marco’s fantastic ability to develop a song, I think it’s almost impossible to find any better combination.”

The boys consistently so single minded and sure of themselves both in studio and live don’t stop for a second: “There’s always something to do” they say. They start a series of gigs that last almost two years, hours and hours of rehearsals. They pay attention to every single detail, there’s never a moment to louse.
Even though there’s a lot to do they never forget to work on new material and in fact during 2006 they start working on new songs, making four brand new Demos which they need as a ‘model’ for future works in the studio. There’s one song in particular that gets all the attention and rings the bells, it does because it’s absolutely catchy and gripping. The song is called “Welcome To Magic” an explosive and dynamic composition that somehow tastes sweet, “Like a candy”.
During august 2007 the boys go in the studio once again, this time they choose one of the top studios in the city, the Massive Arts Studios.
The guys in the studio are like volcanoes in eruption, very clear ideas and definitely at ease, they know precisely what they want and where they’re going and in three/four days the song is done and completely mixed!!!
In studio they meet the sound-engineer/producer Marco Barusso: “a genius” this is the word the boys use to describe him.
The quartet using more then 150 tracks push to the very limit the potential of the studio and the more modern machines, the song becomes from “Explosive” to “Epic” and the result is thrilling, a solid groove, the arrangement never dull and the voices are exquisite, it’s magic from the stars. it’s something different from your average pop-rock album…it’s Jenson.
